Security Guard Company in San Leandro, CA

In today's world, security is an essential component of life. For individuals, that could mean having a firearm available and a plan of action in place if a break-in or other criminal act occurs. Many business owners in California, however, need more than a simple plan. They need a reliable, proven security guard company in San Leandro, CA, that can provide them with the armed or unarmed security needed to stay safe and keep criminals at bay. After all, the reality of running a successful business in California is that nefarious actors will do everything in their power to take what's yours. California's overall violent crime rate increased by 1.7%, from 495 crimes per 100,000 residents in 2022 to 503 in 2023. While property crime fell marginally, violent crimes are up in just about every county of The Golden State.

The next minute, they're up at gunpoint and robbed outside of their storefront. At best, the individual loses money. At worst, they get injured or even die. We've all seen similar on the news. It makes sense, then, that more and more business owners and executives are relying on security guards to protect dispensaries, sporting events, concerts, corporate events, and more.

The peace of mind that comes from having security services is both immediate and enduring. There's simply no substitute for the physical and emotional reassurance of knowing that you are protected-whether it's yourself, your family, your valuables, or your business and its employees. Security officers play a crucial role in providing this sense of safety with their specialized skills, especially in tense or threatening situations. If you're looking for an industry-leading security guard company, look no further than Capital security guard.

On-Duty Security Officers San Leandro, CA

1. Clear Communication

Their ability to remain calm and communicate clearly can significantly influence the outcome of these encounters. This approach equips them to handle disputes in a manner that reduces tension and fosters cooperation. Security Guards for Events in San Leandro, CA

When you're looking for the best steak in town, you don't go by your local fast-food joint and expect to get anything great. Instead, you go to Horatio's in San Leandro, CA. When you're looking for a large event to attend, you don't go to a small city in California - you go to LA.

From Coachella to the Academy Awards, Los Angeles and the greater California have more high-profile events than there are palm trees. If you're a guest, your goal is to enjoy the event without worrying about potential threats. On the other hand, if you're an organizer, your priority is to ensure that the event is safeguarded from nefarious individuals and criminal activities. And that, in a nutshell, encapsulates why event organizers hire professional security guard companies like Capital Security guard. Our security guards are specially trained to handle large crowds at events and know precisely how to manage situations to prevent panic from breaking out.

Below are a few of the basic measures that we take at Capital Security guard for event security:

Security Guards for Cannabis Companies in San Leandro, CA

Union

Running a cannabis dispensary can be both hugely rewarding and sketchy. While there's a huge demand for legally grown cannabis, those who own and operate the stores that sell the plant are often at risk. We're talking vandalism, theft, assault, and other crimes that threaten both customers and employees.

While investing in high-quality security systems can help address these issues, they don't always reduce the likelihood of repeat offenses. This brings us to an important question: Should you hire a security guard for your cannabis dispensary? The short answer is yes. That's true even if you're working there on a daily basis. Why? The truth is that it's very difficult to prevent theft entirely.

Failure to take security measures in your dispensary seriously can lead to significant losses, which can happen quickly. With the increase in daytime crime, potential thieves can easily enter your property and steal products - and that's just the start.

 Security Patrol San Leandro, CA

How Do Armed and Unarmed Security Guards Help Protect Your Cannabis Investment?

Well-trained security guards play a pivotal role in preventing the theft of money and property at your dispensary. They help reduce vandalism and protect against assaults. A guard is skilled in spotting suspicious behavior and addressing potential issues before they escalate. It's important to note that criminals are often deterred by the presence of armed security personnel. Plus, because guards collaborate with local law enforcement, it becomes easier to resolve any crimes that may occur at your cannabis store.

Unlike security cameras, guards provide a more effective visual deterrent. They ensure that everyone adheres to the established rules and regulations. Any misconduct by employees or customers can have serious repercussions for your cannabis dispensary. A trained guard not only prevents unwanted behavior but can also take disciplinary measures or legal action if required.

How Do You Know if You Need Security Guards for Your Dispensary?

If you own a cannabis shop in California, chances are you've worked long hours and invested a lot of money into making it successful. But that success can come at a steep price, especially when criminals see what you're selling. Sure, you've installed locks on your doors and taken basic steps to prevent crime. But modern-day criminals are savvy and know how to get around standard types of security. That's where security guards for cannabis growers in San Leandro, CA, start to make a lot of sense.

Keep the following red flags in mind. If your dispensary is growing, it could be time to hire security.

  • Quick Growth or Increase in Income
  • High Foot Traffic
  • Lots of Public Exposure and Media Attention
  • Location of Your Cannabis Company
  • Physical Accessibility

SAN LEANDRO, CA — As the clock ticks toward 2025, San Leandro and nearby cities are gearing up for vibrant celebrations to ring in the New Year.

Whether you're drawn to a lively countdown or a more relaxed toast in a romantic setting, San Leandro, Alameda and Oakland are setting the stage for a memorable transition into 2025.

Here is a look at some additional events happening:

If you're looking to make reservations for dinner, the following San Leandro restaurants will be open, according to OpenTable:

In the United States, one of the most popular New Year’s Eve traditions is the dropping of the giant ball in New York City’s Times Square. Other U.S. cities have their own versions of this celebration, such as the Peeps Chick Drop in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and the giant Potato Drop in Boise, Idaho.

The transition from one year to the next is often marked by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne,” a Scottish folk song whose title roughly translates to “days gone by,” according to Encyclopedia Britannica and History.com. The tradition of New Year’s resolutions dates back 8,000 years to ancient Babylonians, who made promises to return borrowed items and repay debts at the beginning of the new year, which was in mid-March when they planted their crops.

According to legend, if people kept their word, the pagan gods would grant them favor in the coming year. However, if they broke their promises, they would lose favor with the gods. Many secular New Year’s resolutions focus on imagining new, improved versions of ourselves.

The failure rate of New Year’s resolutions is about 80 percent, according to U.S. News & World Report. There are many reasons, but a big one is they’re made out of remorse — for gaining weight, for example — and aren’t accompanied by a shift in attitude or a plan for coping with the stress and discomfort that comes with changing a habit or condition.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Can the holiday lights on your home be seen from space? Does it look like the Las Vegas strip?

If you've spent days or weeks painstakingly hanging strands of lights on your house, palm trees and shrubs, or hauling multiple figurines out to your lawn — Patch wants to hear from you.

Soon, we're compiling a Patch California tour o' lights, where readers can explore the best holiday light displays in the Alameda County area.

We aim to have the list up as soon as possible — so email photos and a description of your winter wonderland to Kat Schuster at kat.schuster@patch.com.

For many of us, taking in our neighbors’ outdoor holiday lighting displays and other decorative touches is as much a part of the season as exchanging gifts and singing Christmas carols.

There’s a good reason twinkling holiday lights and colorful displays make us feel good, according to mental health experts.

“It does create that neurological shift that can produce happiness,” Psychologist Deborah Serani, a senior professor at New York’s Adelphi University, told NBC’s “Today” show. “I think anything that takes us out of our normal habituation, the normal day in, day out ... signals our senses, and then our senses measure if it’s pleasing or not.”

Decorating for the holidays “will spike dopamine, a feel-good hormone,” she said. “For a lot of us, Christmas is a magical time, it’s a time of innocence. It’s a time of joy.”

That’s why Patch and T-Mobile are partnering to find the lighted homes around town to visit.

A few details:

If you’re including a video, please upload it to YouTube and send us the link so we can embed it (make sure it's marked “public”). We also request that the homeowner submit their own yard or a close relative.

We’ll keep updating the countywide list throughout December.

Once you've provided the information — and submitted a photo or two or a video (after you uploaded it to YouTube) — you will be entered and included in our roundup.

Pro-tip: If you haven't photographed your light display before, a good time to take photos is at dusk.

IMPORTANT: By submitting a photo, you're giving Patch permission to publish it for this feature and future stories. Photos should be original and taken by the person submitting the photo.

So, be sure to check back for updates and sign up for your local Patch.com newsletters as well!

Please copy and paste the following information into an email, along with photos or videos, and follow these guidelines:

We’re looking forward to hearing from you. Remember, email Kat Schuster (kat.schuster@patch.com) to submit photos of your holiday lights.

Bridge Tolls Increase In January

BAY AREA — The regional body that sets toll rates for the Bay Area's seven state-owned bridges voted this week to raise tolls by another $1.25 to $3 for two-axle vehicles, starting in 2026, introducing a "tiered" tolling rate.

Changes were also made to carpool lanes known as high occupancy lanes, with a third person per vehicle now required to receive a discount on the Dumbarton and San Mateo-Hayward bridges.

The toll increases will affect the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and the Antioch, Benicia-Martinez, Carquinez, Dumbarton, Richmond-San Rafael and San Mateo-Hayward bridges. The carpool lane changes will affect all but the Bay Bridge.

The toll increase, which will be phased in over five years starting in 2026, is on top of a $1 increase that will take effect in January, which will bring the current toll to $8 for drivers with one or two occupants, and $4 with three or more.

The $1 increase in January marks the third installment of a $3 increase that was approved by voters as part of Regional Measure 3 in 2018. The toll was first increased in 2019, then again in 2022.

Find out what's happening in San Leandrofor free with the latest updates from Patch.

The vote Wednesday by the Bay Area Toll Authority, which is controlled by the regional Metropolitan Transportation Commission, marks a new increase that will leave drivers with tiered rates starting in 2027.

All rates will increase by 50 cents in 2026, except for carpoolers, who receive half-off and will see an increase of 25 cents. After that, the rates diverge.

Drivers with FasTrak will see steady increases of 50 cents per year until the toll is set at $10.50 in January 2030. High occupancy rates for vehicles with three or more people will still be 50% of those rates, increasing 25 cents each year until they are set at $5.25 starting in 2030.

The Toll Authority voted to standardize the three-occupant requirement to receive the high occupancy discount on all bridges. The Dumbarton and San Mateo-Hayward bridges currently allow the discount with two occupants.

But vehicles with two occupants will be able to access the high occupancy lanes on the approach to the bridges on all but the Bay Bridge starting in 2026.

The tiers are created by a bump starting in 2027. Drivers with registered license plate accounts will see an additional increase of 25 cents, which will then continue increasing by 50 cents until the rate is $10.75 in 2030.

Drivers who rely on an electronic invoice will see an additional $1 on their bill in 2027, which will ultimately set the rate at $11.50 for such drivers. The state went to an all-electronic toll system in 2021 after initially removing toll booth operators because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vehicles with more than two axles will see higher increases, with three-axle vehicles seeing tolls rise from $18 starting in January to $25.50 in 2030, increasing by $1.50 each year.

The number ranges for vehicles with additional axles with rates in 2025 between $22 and $37, which will increase to a range between $33 and $55.50.

The money raised from the toll increases will go towards bridge maintenance and repairs, according to the MTC.

, CA — Skies over XX could be cloudy Sunday morning before dawn when the last full moon of the year reaches peak illumination.

December’s full cold moon will appear bright for a couple of days on either side of reaching peak illumination on Dec. 15.

This month’s full moon is called the cold moon because it occurs as nights turn cold and long, according to NASA. Meteorological winter began Dec.1, but the solstice on Saturday, Dec. 21, is the astronomical start of winter.

Other names for the December full moon include the frost moon, the winter moon and the moon before Yule. NASA has a different name for it: the child moon, according to Gordon Johnston, a retired program executive and now volunteer writer for the agency’s monthly skywatching guides.

Five years ago, the term was coined by 7-year-old Astrid Hattenbach as she walked home with her father, Henry Throop, Johnston’s friend and former colleague.

Find out what's happening in San Leandrofor free with the latest updates from Patch.

“You know what this Moon is called?” Astrid said to her dad, according to Johnston’s account. “It’s called a Child Moon. Because the Moon rises at a time that the children, they can see it, because they’re not in bed, and they might even be outside like we are right now.”

Johnston thought the name was perfect — and not just because he appreciated the wonder it evoked in a child.

This year, at least for Washington, D.C., and similar latitudes, the earliest evenings with a full or nearly full moon in the sky will be Friday through Sunday, with sunset around 4:44 p.m. Eastern Time and evening twilight ending around 5:50 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Johnston wrote.

The full moon occurs a day after the peak of the Geminid meteor shower, which NASA says is hands-down the best shooting star show of the year. Under ideal conditions, up to 120 of the bright, fast, yellowish-colored are visible.

The year closes out with the Ursid meteor shower, which runs Dec. 17-26 and peaks Dec. 22-23. The moon will still be bright at about 54 percent illumination, and that may interfere with viewing after midnight until dawn. At their peak, the Ursids produce about five or 10 shooting stars an hour. The shower is produced by dust grains left behind by comet 8P/Tuttle, discovered in 1790.

Shooting star seekers, take note: 2025 starts with another stunner, the prolific Quadrantids, which under perfect conditions can produce as many as 200 meteors an hour at their Jan. 4 peak. The shower runs Dec. 26-Jan. 16. Most meteor showers have a two-day peak, but the peak of the Quadrantids is only a few hours, according to NASA, which calls it “one of the best annual meteor showers.”

The Quadrantids are rich in bright fireballs, larger explosions of light and color that can persist longer than an average meteor streak.
