Security Guard Company in San Jose, CA
In today's world, security is an essential component of life. For individuals, that could mean having a firearm available and a plan of action in place if a break-in or other criminal act occurs. Many business owners in California, however, need more than a simple plan. They need a reliable, proven security guard company in San Jose, CA, that can provide them with the armed or unarmed security needed to stay safe and keep criminals at bay. After all, the reality of running a successful business in California is that nefarious actors will do everything in their power to take what's yours. California's overall violent crime rate increased by 1.7%, from 495 crimes per 100,000 residents in 2022 to 503 in 2023. While property crime fell marginally, violent crimes are up in just about every county of The Golden State.
The next minute, they're up at gunpoint and robbed outside of their storefront. At best, the individual loses money. At worst, they get injured or even die. We've all seen similar on the news. It makes sense, then, that more and more business owners and executives are relying on security guards to protect dispensaries, sporting events, concerts, corporate events, and more.
The peace of mind that comes from having security services is both immediate and enduring. There's simply no substitute for the physical and emotional reassurance of knowing that you are protected-whether it's yourself, your family, your valuables, or your business and its employees. Security officers play a crucial role in providing this sense of safety with their specialized skills, especially in tense or threatening situations. If you're looking for an industry-leading security guard company, look no further than Capital security guard.

Top 3 Reasons Why Customer Service is So Important for Security
One of the reasons why so many clients choose Capital Security guard over other security guard companies in San Jose, CA, is that we put a strong emphasis on customer service. We provide exceptional service not only from our office when clients call but also in the field when our security guards are at work. Here are three ways that our security guards use customer service to create safer environments.
1. Clear Communication
An important aspect of excellent customer service involves cultivating robust communication skills. Security personnel frequently engage with both employees and co-workers. A competent security guard needs to communicate effectively with individuals across various organizational levels, ranging from entry-level staff to the company's president or owner.
2. Staying Calm in Contentious Situations
Customer service skills are essential for effectively resolving conflicts, particularly for security guards who often face high-pressure situations. Their ability to remain calm and communicate clearly can significantly influence the outcome of these encounters. That's why our security guard company in San Jose, CA instructs security guards to implement de-escalation techniques. This approach equips them to handle disputes in a manner that reduces tension and fosters cooperation. By doing so, we ensure that potentially challenging situations are addressed swiftly and amicably.
3. Positive Public Impressions
When security guards excel in customer service, they become true ambassadors for the companies they represent. At Capital Security guard, our security guards recognize that they play an important role in shaping how the public views our clients' businesses and properties. Security Guards for Events in San Jose, CA
When you're looking for the best steak in town, you don't go by your local fast-food joint and expect to get anything great. Instead, you go to Le Papillon in San Jose, CA. When you're looking for a large event to attend, you don't go to a small city in California - you go to LA.
From Coachella to the Academy Awards, Los Angeles and the greater California have more high-profile events than there are palm trees. If you're a guest, your goal is to enjoy the event without worrying about potential threats. On the other hand, if you're an organizer, your priority is to ensure that the event is safeguarded from nefarious individuals and criminal activities. And that, in a nutshell, encapsulates why event organizers hire professional security guard companies like Capital Security guard. Our security guards are specially trained to handle large crowds at events and know precisely how to manage situations to prevent panic from breaking out.
Below are a few of the basic measures that we take at Capital Security guard for event security:
- Each security guard for your event is well trained in how to enforce the appropriate safety and security measures in place.
- All staff are expertly trained to provide medical assistance or contact the appropriate third party.
- All security personnel understand your venue's layout, emergency exit locations, and possible wrong points of entry.
To enhance your event security, we'll first assess the level of security required for your event. Striking the right balance is crucial; while excessive security can make guests feel uneasy, insufficient measures may leave them vulnerable.

Security Guards for Cannabis Companies in San Jose, CA
Running a cannabis dispensary can be both hugely rewarding and sketchy. While there's a huge demand for legally grown cannabis, those who own and operate the stores that sell the plant are often at risk. We're talking vandalism, theft, assault, and other crimes that threaten both customers and employees.
While investing in high-quality security systems can help address these issues, they don't always reduce the likelihood of repeat offenses. This brings us to an important question: Should you hire a security guard for your cannabis dispensary? The short answer is yes. That's true even if you're working there on a daily basis. Why? The truth is that it's very difficult to prevent theft entirely.
Failure to take security measures in your dispensary seriously can lead to significant losses, which can happen quickly. With the increase in daytime crime, potential thieves can easily enter your property and steal products - and that's just the start.
How Do Armed and Unarmed Security Guards Help Protect Your Cannabis Investment?
Well-trained security guards play a pivotal role in preventing the theft of money and property at your dispensary. They help reduce vandalism and protect against assaults. A guard is skilled in spotting suspicious behavior and addressing potential issues before they escalate. It's important to note that criminals are often deterred by the presence of armed security personnel. Plus, because guards collaborate with local law enforcement, it becomes easier to resolve any crimes that may occur at your cannabis store.
Unlike security cameras, guards provide a more effective visual deterrent. They ensure that everyone adheres to the established rules and regulations. Any misconduct by employees or customers can have serious repercussions for your cannabis dispensary. A trained guard not only prevents unwanted behavior but can also take disciplinary measures or legal action if required.
How Do You Know if You Need Security Guards for Your Dispensary?
If you own a cannabis shop in California, chances are you've worked long hours and invested a lot of money into making it successful. But that success can come at a steep price, especially when criminals see what you're selling. Sure, you've installed locks on your doors and taken basic steps to prevent crime. But modern-day criminals are savvy and know how to get around standard types of security. That's where security guards for cannabis growers in San Jose, CA, start to make a lot of sense.
Keep the following red flags in mind. If your dispensary is growing, it could be time to hire security.
- Quick Growth or Increase in Income
- High Foot Traffic
- Lots of Public Exposure and Media Attention
- Location of Your Cannabis Company
- Physical Accessibility

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were back on the streets of San Jose Monday, according to the Rapid Response Network in Santa Clara County.
The volunteer group responds to sightings of immigration agents to verify the enforcement activity. Verified activity on Sunday created a flurry of social media warnings and worries.
At La Placita Tropicana, a normally-bustling East San Jose shopping center, store owners say business has slowed quite a bit.
A man named Alejandro makes a living by changing windshield wipers and getting the film off of headlights in the parking lot of the shopping center, but he's noticing fewer customers these days. He fears the enforcement activity by immigration agents is causing people to stay home.
Inside Accesorios Flor, Jorge Rosales said customers are not coming in. It’s been like this since Election Day, he said, adding that ICE fears are taking a toll on his business.
At a house two blocks from the shopping center, a man who lives there but didn’t want to talk on camera said ICE agents were at the home on Sunday. He wouldn't say if they took anyone away.
Javier Santos lives across the street and saw the immigration agents. He said the family went inside their home and locked the doors out of fear. All they want to do, he said, is work.
The enforcement action sent city leaders into response mode on Sunday. Councilman Peter Ortiz, who is also a member of the Rapid Response Network, urged worried residents to stay indoors.
"I’m disgusted, but we knew this was going to happen," he said.
He worries about the residual business impact as well.
"What Trump is doing, he’s not just impacting our residents who are undocumented," he said. "He’s impacting the whole ecosystem of communities like the east side."
In a statement, ICE said, "enforcement activity takes place around the clock however, ICE does not conduct raids or sweeps, nor does the agency operate roadblocks or checkpoints."
ICE also said it doesn't target non-citizens indiscriminately.
Alejandro said he’s looking over his shoulder every day, worried about ICE. But he said he has no choice. He has to work.

The former CEO of a San Francisco AI firm and his wife are accused of a “brazen and wide-ranging” $60 million fraud scheme, in a 46-page 25-count unsealed today in federal court in San Francisco.
Alexander Beckman used his position as CEO of GameOn – now called simply On – to “defraud investors through a series of lies, half-truths and misleading statements and representations,” according to the indictment.
According to the indictment, Beckman, 41, and his wife Valerie Lau Beckman, 38, of San Francisco, allegedly conspired to defraud GameOn investors, GameOn and a bank.
The couple were arrested earlier today and made their initial appearances in federal court in San Francisco this morning.
The indictment didn’t identify any of the victims of Beckman's scheme, including banks and venture capitalists, or its biggest customers, including iconic professional sports leagues and teams.
In December, Beckman identified “partners that include prestigious luxury brands like Valentino and Armani, alongside major league sports teams such as the New York Yankees, Las Vegas Raiders, and Philadelphia 76ers, relying on On’s platform to deepen connections with their fan base.”
On its website, On claims it is “working with” the NBA, NHL, NFL and FIFA, as well as sports teams, including the Detroit Pistons, Brooklyn Nets, Sacramento Kings, Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers and Indiana Pacers in the NBA, and the New York Yankees, Kansas City Royals and Oakland A’s and other teams, as well as Allegiant Stadium, the Spectrum Center, Barclays Center and the Fiesta Bowl.
Prosecutors said that Beckman’s statements to GameOn investors “often described revenue that never existed, cash balances were vastly inflated and customer relationships that were not real and otherwise greatly exaggerated.”
The indictment said that one bank account listed GameOn's balance at an un-named bank as over $13 million when GameOn's actual account balance was just $25.93.
GameOn offered its customers a software program claiming artificial intelligence functionality that mimicked human conversation and interaction, commonly known as chatbot or simply "chat." GameOn's chatbot responded to natural language inquiries and other inputs, allowing its customers to use the chatbot as a tool to engage with their fans, customers and other members of the public.
The crimes identified in the indictment included wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, securities fraud, conspiracy to commit securities fraud and bank fraud, false statement to a bank, money transactions derived from unlawful activity, aggravated identity theft and obstruction of justice.
Beckman is the founder and former CEO of GameOn, Inc., also known as GameOn Technology or ON Platform, and his wife, Valerie Beckman, was an attorney who worked on GameOn matters.
GameOn, now On, is a San Francisco-based private business that offers a software program claiming artificial intelligence functionality that mimics human conversation and interaction, commonly known as a chatbot or “chat.”
Over the course of the alleged scheme, from September 2018 to July 2024, Beckman raised over $60 million from GameOn investors.
Last November, GameOn changed its name to On, then in December announced it had raised $25 million “as it transitions from sports to enterprise AI technology.”
“Bolstered by this fresh capital infusion, On aims to revolutionize the landscape of conversational AI by empowering businesses across various sectors to leverage generative AI for creating products,” the company proclaimed at the time.
On claimed at the time that it had raised $80 million from “notable participants including Equiam, B3 Capital, Commonwealth Financial Network and Mirae Asset Venture Investment.”
“With the rebranding as On, the company wants to capitalize on its leadership in AI chat, particularly in the sports sector, and expand its horizons into e-commerce, consumer banking, healthcare, and publishing domains,” the company said.
“On has been a trailblazer in innovation, turning conversational AI into a potent revenue-generating asset. As we embrace our new identity, we are thrilled to embark on a journey that will significantly amplify our influence within the generative AI space,” Beckman said in a statement. “Companies have poured substantial resources into AI research and development, often without a clear path to effective implementation and monetization. With the On platform, businesses spanning diverse industries can now confidently establish deeper and more impactful connections with their consumers.”
Its main venture capital investor, Mirae Asset Venture Investment, is headquartered in India and North Korea. In December, the venture capital firm was enthusiastic: “We are excited to continue to invest in and partner with On as its rebranding marks an exciting new chapter for the company, positioning it at the forefront of generative AI solutions for brands across various industries,” said Justin Kim, Mirae Asset. “With a fresh vision and a proven track record, On is poised to redefine how brands harness the power of AI.”
On reported in December that it had 100 employees
Valerie Beckman was an attorney who worked on GameOn corporate and transactional matters from at least 2016 to 2024. The couple married in October 2023, used over $4 million of GameOn investor funds on personal expenses, including purchases of residences in San Francisco, payments to private schools, and payments to their wedding venue.
“The Bay Area is home to incredible innovation and hard-working entrepreneurs, but innovation cannot grow through fraud. Schemes like the ones that defendants are charged with threaten our financial markets and cheat investors,” said First Assistant United States Attorney Patrick D. Robbins. “This indictment should serve as a reminder that we will investigate and hold fraudsters accountable.”
“Fraud undermines the integrity of our capital markets and erodes the trust that investors place in them,” said FBI Acting Special Agent in Charge Dan Costin. “The FBI is committed to ensuring our financial markets remain fair and transparent by investigating and holding accountable those who engage in deceptive practices.”
As alleged in the indictment, Beckman’s statements to GameOn investors often described non-existent revenue, inflated cash balances, and fake and otherwise exaggerated customer relationships. To further the scheme, Beckman allegedly used the names of at least seven real people—including fake emails and signatures—without their permission to distribute false and fraudulent GameOn financial and business information and documents with the intent to defraud GameOn and its investors.
Among the individuals whose names Beckman used to commit the fraud scheme was a GameOn CFO, two bank employees, and an employee of a major professional sports league, prosecutors said.. Beckman also is alleged to have fabricated two GameOn audit reports using the names, signatures, and trademarks of reputable accounting firms, including one of the Big Four accounting firms, to validate false financial statements, and distributed over a dozen fake bank statements for GameOn’s accounts as part of the scheme.
After changing law firms multiple times, prosecutors said Valerie Beckman joined a venture capital firm in September 2021. She is alleged to have provided Beckman with genuine audit reports that she obtained from her own employer that Beckman then used to create fake audit reports for GameOn.
The indictment alleges that she personally emailed one of these fake audit reports to a GameOn investor’s representative, knowing it to be fake, to induce further investment into the company.
In August 2024, when Valerie Beckman’s employer approached her regarding GameOn, she is alleged to have lied to her employer about her work for GameOn and then attempted to delete hundreds of files relating to that GameOn work from her employer’s records at a time when a grand jury investigation into GameOn was pending.
If convicted, defendants face the following maximum sentences: 20 years in prison for each count of wire fraud and wire fraud conspiracy; five years in prison for the count of securities fraud conspiracy; 10 years in prison for the count of engaging in monetary transactions in property derived from specified unlawful activity; and two years in prison for each count of aggravated identity theft. Valerie Beckman also faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for the count of obstruction of justice.

A parade and festival celebrating Tet, which ushers in the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, kicked off in San Jose Saturday, with the holiday officially beginning on Wednesday.
Hundreds turned out for the festivities.
Lion dance performers from several college organizations ushered in the Tet parade Saturday.
Ruby Chan-Frey, co-captain of UC Berkeley's Vietnamese Student Association, explained the significance of the tradition.
"You're embodying this animal that's supposed to bring good fortune and protection, and you have to be there physically and mentally to bring that, which is energy and animation and strength in your core stances," said Chan-Frey.
After a 15-year hiatus, organizers from the nonprofit Vietnamese American Roundtable and the United Vietnamese Student Association of Northern California hosted the return of the parade.
Philip Nguyen, executive director of the Vietnamese American Roundtable, spoke about the significance of the occasion.
"2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam War. So many of my generation's parents, grandparents, ancestors came 50 years ago hoping to find a better life in places like America. And for us, what we've seen in the last 10, 15 years is the elder generation is starting to get older, to have less capacity for organizing," Nguyen said.
Nguyen, an organizer, is leading the younger generation in carrying on Lunar New Year traditions. This is the second year of the two-day festival which followed the parade. Hundreds of student volunteers had a hand in the festivities.
"It's definitely about preserving culture and history. As all of us, when we grew up, we always watched the lion dancers when they performed around temples and Lunar New Year festivities, and it's really important to take part and continue that art," said Phillip Tran, a lion dance performer.
The parade on Lucretia Avenue also featured low riders, which are a big part of San Jose's culture.
"We want to make sure we bring the Hispanic culture, the Indian culture, the Chinese culture, and the Vietnamese culture all together," said Bien Doan, San Jose City councilman.
Doan, whose district covers Little Saigon, said he helped get a diverse mix of community and corporate partners to collaborate on the celebration.
"In my campaign and in my previous job as a fire captain, I serve humankind, and I want to make sure that we involve all communities, because this is us, this is our city, and therefore we should not be divisive," Doan said.
The free Tet festival, featuring music, food, entertainment, and a marketplace with Vietnamese goods, will run all weekend long from noon to 8 p.m. at the Grand Century Mall in Little Saigon.

So we did. It tasted sweet, salty, and good!

SAN JOSE — Ross Dress for Less struck a deal to open a new San Jose location at a site where a drug and pharmacy store had once operated.
The off-price retailer leased 23,700 square feet of space at 1030 South White Rd. within White Road Plaza in east San Jose, according to documents filed this month with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office.
Sean O’Carroll and Ron Cruz, brokers with The Econic Co., a commercial real estate firm, are attempting to find tenants for the retail complex. O’Carroll and Cruz declined to comment about the situation.
The details of the agreement showed that the rental deal was completed on Dec. 11, 2024, when the property owner signed the lease. The new Ross store will occupy a space where Rite Aid once operated.
Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy in 2023 and has since revealed plans to close at least 800 stores nationwide. Pennsylvania-based Rite Aid is also cutting jobs in the Bay Area.
Workers were seen removing debris from inside the empty store this week.
Ross signed a 10-year lease for the site, public documents show. The retailer also has an option to extend the lease by four five-year periods, or potentially another 20 years. The starting date for the lease wasn’t immediately clear from county records.
An affiliate controlled by Doerken Properties, also known as DPI Retail, owns the White Road Plaza retail center where Ross has leased space. The shopping center totals 153,500 square feet, according to DPI.
The deal by Ross is a reminder that despite some difficulties in the retail sector, some merchants continue to seek ways to expand.
“Ross is very aggressive right now in expanding and looking for new locations,” said David Taxin, a partner with Meacham/Oppenheimer, a commercial real estate firm. “They are looking for buildings with rents that are below market or fair value. Ross won’t move into a brand-new retail center with high rents.”
Dublin-based Ross Stores posted a profit of $2.11 billion on revenue of $21.24 billion for the 12 months that ended in early November 2024. Both numbers were an improvement over the retailer’s profits of $1.88 billion on revenue of $20.38 billion for the one-year period that ended in early February 2024, according to Finance Charts.
These robust results are one reason property owners might be eager to seal deals with Ross.
“Landlords are happy to have a Ross, because the company has extremely high credit and a great balance sheet,” Taxin said.
More opportunities could emerge for retailers hunting for space at other sites due to store closures by Dollar Tree and 99 Cents Only.
Hobby Lobby recently opened a south San Jose store in Almaden Plaza after it took over a big space that once was occupied by Bed Bath & Beyond. Sports Basement also has leased an adjacent site in the shopping center. It will occupy spaces where Buy Buy Baby once operated and where Barnes and Noble has decided to shut its doors.
“A bunch of big box spaces are available and getting leased,” Taxin said. “Ross sees a lot of opportunities with some of the low-cost stores and some drug stores closing locations.”
